SOPHIE

After trying taekwondo, gymnastics, and soccer, Sophie discovered dance at the age of 8. She studied ballet, contemporary, and jazz at Principle Dance under the direction of Kim Galloway (Trifecta Dance Collective) and Ryan Galloway (Giordano Dance Chicago). In 2022, to further develop her classical ballet skills, she moved to Hinsdale Dance Academy, under the instruction of Jennifer Grapes Croughan and Nicole Miller, and eventually became a member of Hinsdale Ballet Theater Company. 

 

Sophie has trained at intensive programs including Ballet Austin, Cincinnati Ballet, Complexions, Chicago Repertory Ballet, and Chicago Academy for the Arts. She also studied ballet at Joffrey Academy under the instruction of Diane Cheeseman.

 

Sophie is particularly attracted to the physicality and expressiveness of dance and hopes to pursue it as a career. Now in her senior year of high school, she is excited to turn her focus to contemporary dance as part of the Visceral Studio Company, and would like to thank Nick Pupillo for giving her this opportunity.
