ARTIST BIO
Andrea originally hails from Midland, MI and received her BFA in dance performance from Butler University in Indianapolis, IN. After graduating, Andrea moved to Denver where she performed, toured and taught with Kim Robards Dance and Frequent Flyers Aerial Dance Theater where she had the amazing opportunity to learn and teach aerial dance. While in Denver, Andrea joined the Ballet Faculty for Ballet Nouveau Colorado (now the Colorado Conservatory of Dance) and became the outreach manager for their professional company, now known as Wonderbound. Since moving to Chicago in 2008, Andrea has had the privilege of performing with professional companies such as Cerqua Rivera Dance Theatre, Chicago Repertory Ballet, Winifred Haun and Dancers, and Inaside Chicago Dance. She has also been featured as a guest artist in The Nutcracker with Ballet Legere and the Schaumburg Dance Ensemble and has performed in a variety of Chicago-based dance festivals, choreography competitions, corporate events, and curated performances of independent works. Andrea co-founded and choreographed for Chicago Freelance Dance, a choreography showcase for newly emerging choreographers, and was selected to present her choreography for Dance Works’ very first Dance Chance Redux choreography competition. Andrea has been teaching dance and choreographing for youth dance companies for over 16 years, and loves to share her passion for dance with students of all ages. In addition to her dance training, Andrea is also a licensed massage therapist and uses her knowledge of the body to help enrich her teaching. Andrea is thrilled to be in her fifth year working with the talented students of Visceral Dance Chicago.
