KRISTIN LARSEN

INTERIM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Kristin Larsen serves as the Interim Executive Director of Visceral Dance Chicago, where she brings more than three decades of visionary leadership in the nonprofit arts and cultural sector. Her career spans executive roles, organizational transformation, and deep commitment to the sustainability and growth of mission-driven organizations. In this interim capacity, she is focused on fundraising strategy, donor cultivation, and preparing for the new full time executive director as the company continues its impact across the Chicagoland dance community.

Prior to joining Visceral Dance Chicago, Kristin was the Executive Director of the Arts & Business Council of Chicago (A&BC), where she led the organization through a period of strategic realignment that prioritized support for arts organizations in historically underinvested communities. Her leadership fostered meaningful partnerships, activated equity-centered programming, and ultimately facilitated the acquisition of A&BC’s core programs by Lawyers for the Creative Arts.

Before her tenure at A&BC, Kristin served as Executive Director of Remy Bumppo Theatre Company (2002–2012) and of Stage 773 (2013–2017), guiding both organizations through growth and artistic development. She also contributed to the field as a business representative with Actors’ Equity Association, and in leadership roles at Facets Multimedia and numerous theatre production teams.

Kristin’s influence extends to civic and national arts leadership. She serves on advisory councils for the City of Chicago’s “The 78” development, the Private Sector Council of Americans for the Arts, and the Entertainment Community Fund. She is a longstanding member of the Joseph Jefferson Awards Committee and has taught arts management topics including board development, finance, and organizational stabilization.

Kristin holds a BFA in Production Management and an MA in Facilitating Organizational Effectiveness in the Arts, both from DePaul University, and is known for her collaborative, inclusive approach to nonprofit leadership.
