Cody Watson (He/Him) is a mover and performer originally from Indiana. From a young age, movement became so natural and growing up he trained at a local competitive dance studio in Franklin, Indiana. Cody went on to study at Indiana University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Contemporary Dance as well as a minor in Arts Management. During his time at IU, Cody had the pleasure of diving into creative process with artists like Rennie Harris, Juel D. Lane, and Cameron McKinney. Indiana University provided many opportunities for Cody’s artistic expression through countless performances as well as choreographic opportunities.

 

After graduating college, Cody moved to Chicago joining Visceral for their 2022/2023 season. He performed in works by Nick Pupillo, Marguerite Donlon, Monica Cervantes Rodriguez, and Danielle Agami. Following that season in Chicago, he moved to Utah and spent 2 years dancing and collaborating in the professional company setting of SALT Contemporary Dance. During his time with SALT, he was fortunate to work in process with renowned artists like Ihsan Rustem, Rena Butler, Ching Ching Wong, Omar Roman de Jesus, Brandon Lee Alley, and Racheal Prince. As a performer, Cody is always striving to further his personal movement research and express his artistry. 

 

He is thrilled to be back in Chicago dancing with Visceral Dance Chicago for the 2026/2027 season. He continues to seek nuances and space to grow within his professional career. As Cody’s career continues he aims to move with intention, curiosity, and openness in the dance spaces he enters and creates.
