 At a young age, Issy Hammel found a passion in performance, first in theatre and then dance, studying musical theatre, ballet, and tap at local studios before joining Visceral Dance Center.  Her formal training at Visceral began with Kaytee Cox, where she became a member of the youth ensemble in 2022.  She has done intensive training at Visceral, Interlochen Arts, and Hubbard Street Dance and danced in regional competitions.

 She is a junior at the Chicago Academy of the Arts as a dance major, where she trains with Randy Duncan and Patrick Simoniello. She is enthralled by the unique vision of expressive contemporary dance at Visceral, the culture and community of its teachers and dancers, and is excited to train with the Studio Company this year under the direction of Nick Pupillo.
