Kaliana Medlock is a Filipino American artist who discovered her passion for the arts and movement at a young age. She is a 2023 graduate from the Conservatory of Dance at SUNY Purchase, where she earned a BFA in dance, and minors in both Arts Management and Contemplative Studies. During her time at Purchase, she had the pleasure of performing works by Peter Chu, Jenn Freeman, Amy Miller, MICHIYAYA Dance, and Bill T. Jones. 

 

Kaliana joined Visceral Dance Chicago as a company member in 2023. She is grateful for the opportunity to work closely with renown choreographers such as Gustavo Ramírez Sansano, Roderick George, Marco Palomino, Mònica Cervantes, Micaela Taylor, Kevin O’Day, and Nick Pupillo. Kaliana recently returned from a summer at Springboard Danse, where she performed works by Luke Murphy’s Attic Projects and Julia Weber. She has furthered her artistic development with organizations such as RUBBERBAND, SpringboardX, A.I.M. by Kyle Abraham, BODYTRAFFIC, Ate9 Dance, and New Dialect. Kaliana has additionally performed in freelance projects throughout Los Angeles, New York, and beyond, participating in festival performances, music videos, and film work. 

 

Kaliana is profoundly thankful for the opportunities, growth, and meaningful connections she has experienced within the Visceral community thus far. She is looking forward to her fourth season with the company, broadening her artistic capabilities and sharing her unique perspective.
