Like many dancers, Lyla’s proclivity to perform was present from an early age. Her first formal training was primarily in ballet and modern dance at local studios in Chicago’s North Shore as well as through Joffrey Academy Summer Intensives. In the summer of 2020, she was introduced to Visceral Dance Center and found an immediate connection with the studio’s culture and instructors. Later that fall at the age of 9, she started to train and compete with Visceral Youth Ensemble and discovered her love of contemporary dance through the teaching and choreography of Director Kaytee Cox. As she turns 12, she is honored to expand her training alongside VSC and gain greater exposure to the art form. Lyla feels fortunate to grow her technique and style with Visceral and under the tutelage of Founder, Nick Pupillo.
