ARTIST BIO
Michelle Meltzer (Indianapolis, IN) received her training from the Indianapolis School of Ballet with supplemental summer training from LINES Ballet, Ballet Chicago and Post:Ballet. Michelle graduated with honors from the Jacob's School of Music at Indiana University and holds a B.S. in Ballet with an Outside Field in Education. There, she placed in the Bloomington Chapter of the National Society of Arts and Letters competition in 2010.
Michelle has danced professionally with Nevada Ballet Theatre, Aerial Dance Chicago, Chicago Repertory Ballet, Symbiosis, Gregory Hancock Dance Theatre II, and in New Dances- a collaboration between Danceworks and Thodos Dance Chicago.
Michelle holds a fully comprehensive Pilates certification, pre and post natal Pilates
certification, GYROTONIC® level 1, GYROTONIC® Level 2 Program 1, and is Precision Nutrition
Level 1 certified.These modalities have helped her recover from injury, build and maintain strength and mobility, as well as relieve stress. She is inspired by movement and the hope that comes from moving beyond what you thought was capable of your body.
Michelle currently dances with Visceral Dance Chicago.
CLASS DESCRIPTION
Pilates is a total-body exercise method that focuses highly on the core. It uses slow and controlled movements to build strength, flexibility and mobility. It also works the mind-body connection and incorporates breathwork to improve overall health and wellbeing.
